If you are planning to come to the Ribera del Duero Wine Route, you probably want to know what activities you can do in the area beyond visits to wineries or wine tastings. So that you can discover what other options you have in the area, we present 10 activities that can serve as a complement to get to know our land and enrich your getaway to the Route in the most fun way possible.

Take note!

Apitourism

You can find out how bees work thanks to this initiative of the company Oro del Duero, from Quintanilla de Onésimo. Thanks to its promoters, it is possible to have an immersive experience in which you will be able to see up close how the honeycombs they work with look like.

Well protected with a special suit, visitors will be able to enjoy these incredible producers of nature so important to maintain the balance in nature.

In addition, after learning about the honey production, you will have a tasting of their products in an incredible natural area very close to the beehives.

Truffitourism

Another unique experience on the Route, although reserved for the colder months, is truffle tourism. RF Trufas, located in Canalejas de Peñafiel, is a unique opportunity to learn how these mushrooms are cultivated and then foraged. Raquel, with the invaluable help of Lucas, shows us how they work and, in addition, they let us taste the product in a traditional local picnic area.

Remember that this experience is designed for the cold months, but if you want to enjoy it, it is best to book it in autumn.

Kotarr Circuit

Just by reading this title you have already got a face of speed. Kotarr is the only circuit in Spain that allows driving on wet ground and ice. It is located in Tubilla del Lago and has a bar-restaurant, pit hire, children’s circuit, kart hire and organisation of events and tests.

This option can undoubtedly offer you a unique experience in the area during your visit.

Artencuero

Also in Tubilla del Lago, we came across Artencuero, a craft workshop that makes all kinds of leather pieces, from bracelets to decorative items.

As well as being able to buy some of its unique pieces, this space allows you to learn how to handle leather and create your own pieces. You can take a course adapted to your needs.

A Cántaros Artistic Space

If we continue with spaces for artistic creation we find A Cántaros. Located in the unique surroundings of the town of Peñaranda de Duero, this establishment allows you to have a unique experience around ceramics.

It has different areas that allow you to show the handcrafted work they do, to have your own experience, reproducing prehistoric vases, using the potter’s wheel or even learning how oriental firing is done. Among its differentiating activities is the recreation of a house from the 1st Iron Age with reproductions of pieces from the period.

Wine Escape Room

We travel to Aranda de Duero to visit the historic winery of Ribiértete which contains its hilarious Wine Escape Room. This is a perfect experience to do with friends in which we will have to overcome tests and riddles to get out of an underground cellar in less than 1 hour.

Rodrigo Juarranz Art Gallery

Since 2006, the Rodrigo Juarranz Art Gallery has become a highlight of contemporary art in the region.

This space, located in Aranda de Duero, works for the national and international promotion of young artists, without forgetting the figures of great masters and contemporary artistic movements. Thus, the gallery has exhibited works by Marcos Tamargo, Diego Benéitez and Beatriz Díaz Ceballos in dialogue with Picasso, Miró, Tàpies and Dalí, among others.

Relax in a SPA

If you need a second of calm, one of the best options is to spend some time in a SPA. There are several options available on the Route in this field that can make your trip even more perfect.

Spa

Soria Apple Route

Did you know that the largest apple plantation in Europe is located on the Route? We invite you to discover the Soria Apple Route, in La Rasa, a large estate of more than 1,000 hectares with almost 2.5 million apple trees.

You can visit the estate on a tourist train to discover the origins of this plantation and its importance for the area. You will also be able to taste this fruit, which is grown with high quality standards thanks to the area’s climate.

La Olmilla Traditional Winery

Once again underground, but this time in Peñafiel, we find the La Olmilla Traditional Winery. This time you will find a space prepared for small shows that allows you to have an immersive experience or even a dramatised visit.

A way of discovering wine culture in the most traditional way.
