14th century fortress
Tower Alcove
About
At Alcoba de la Torre we find a fortress consisting of a square tower made of masonry with ashlar corners, more than 10 metres high and three storeys of wooden beams, to which a small rectangular walled enclosure was later added, with solid round cubes at the projecting corners and a courtyard inside. It has a gateway at the courtyard level and a pointed arched gateway at the height of the wall parapet, possibly a postern with a lifting accessory. The courtyard may have been almost completely covered and has small double windows dating from the 13th or 14th century.
It has been protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1949.
