About

It is located on the slopes of a hill near the Cuco valley, in a narrowing of the terrain that gives rise to a dense green landscape, unusual and surprising in these plateau lands.

This Valladolid village is crossed by the Madre stream until it flows into the “Padre Duero”, leaving a peaceful recreational area in its wake. At this point, before reaching the municipality of Peñafiel, our Duero already has a significant volume of flow. The village is almost squeezed between two moors to the north and with a clear and open terrain to the south.

Its most important building is the Church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, a Gothic construction from the 13th century, which stands next to the road that runs through the valley. In addition to this church, Bocos de Duero has three important bridges that span the waters of the Duero: the El Carrascal Railway Bridge, the now disused El Empecinado Railway Bridge , and the Aqueduct-Siphon Bridge of the Riaza Canal .

Another outstanding place in the village is the Gurugú Peak”, a place visited by hikers and cyclists where there is a notable colony of birds of prey, among which the griffon vulture stands out. It can be reached by following the Cuco Valley Route.

Its festivities are dedicated to the Virgen de las Nieves and the Virgen de Agosto (both in August). Another festival that is gaining in importance year by year is the Valle del Cuco Cultural Week, held in mid-May in conjunction with the five municipalities in the valley, so that from Monday to Friday it is held in a different village, and at the weekend each year in a different village.

Bocos de Duero’s local name: bocenses.
