Church of San Lorenzo Martir
Quintanilla de Tres Barrios
About
The present church of San Lorenzo Mártir, patron saint of the town, is a typical 16th and 17th century building. However, the exact date of this building is unknown, although the date 1586 is written on the lintel of the interior door of the church.
The church has a nave with a chancel, a sacristy on the right and, until recently, a pulpit on the left. The church also houses the carvings of the Virgen de la Piedra and the Cristo de la Misericordia and a Baroque baldachin.
The coffered ceiling of the apse deserves special attention, as it bears the coats of arms of the noble families linked to the village, such as the Luna family (D. Álvaro de Luna was the first Count of San Esteban de Gormaz) and the Sandoval family.
