About

It is located on a corner of the main square. It dates back to the 16th century, with a bell tower from the same century. It was built in 1440, it has two naves and its tower has the air of a fortress as it has crenellated machicolations. Inside, there is a beautiful 15th-century Christ. It was begun by the presbyter Juan Sánchez. The building is mainly made of limestone masonry. It has two naves and two chapels open on the epistle wall. On the outside of the church, the tower with its machicolation, dating from the first third of the 15th century, is one of the best examples of the castellated construction of a late medieval church. In fact, the building was greatly influenced by the civil constructions of fortresses, watchtowers and watchtowers. On one of its battlements is sculpted a cross that forms part of the coat of arms of Juan Sánchez, and also the coat of arms of the Council of Gumiel del Mercado.

At the top of the cerratillo there was a beautiful castle of which only the ruins remain, in the shelter of which many cellars were built, some still in use today, as a picnic area and to store the wine of the land.
