La Aguilera
La Aguilera
About
This historic village is part of the Burgos municipality of Aranda de Duero, from which it is 10 kms to the northwest.
La Aguilera offers hikers a signposted route known as “Cuesta del Águila“, 8 km long, and a small mountain called “La Malagueña“, which offers privileged views of the whole Ribera del Duero region. Also, just off the road to Aranda, you will find the Pino-Poplar tree, a unique tree in which the trunks of both species merge from the base, intertwining their branches and crowns.
In addition to the natural surroundings, this district of Aranda de Duero has interesting popular architecture. Of particular note are the church of San Cristóbal and the convent of San Pedro Regalado, headquarters of the Iesu Communio religious institute for women.
San Pedro Regalado is the patron saint of this small town, which celebrates its festivities in May, in addition to the summer festivities.
The locals of La Aguilera are: aguilareños / aguilereños.
