About

In the southwest of Soria, between Aranda de Duero and San Esteban de Gormaz, lies this town of some 900 inhabitants, which celebrates its patron saint festivities on the day of Corpus Christi.

Its first settlers were from the Celtiberian city of Segontia Lanca , from which it takes its present name.

It is a stage on several hiking routes that can be followed in the area (GR-14 and Camino del Cid), taking the opportunity to contemplate whimsical shapes such as the “Fairy Chimneys” or the important Romanesque remains in the surrounding area.

Langa preserves mythical wine presses such as the Casa Lagar, Tambores and Pablinches. In addition, a new winepress in perfect condition has been recovered and installed in the open air, from Bocigas de Perales, which was going to be destroyed.

Langa de Duero is one of the historic sites of the Ribera del Duero and boasts a beautiful Renaissance stone bridge that crosses the river Duero, as well as the Torre del Homenaje or “El Cubo” castle (which has watched over the Duero river valley for centuries), It is also home to the Parish Church of San Miguel Arcángel, built between the 16th and 18th centuries, of which you can still see the old late Gothic chevet with a polygonal floor plan and a beautiful starred rib vault.

This municipality in Soria celebrates its festivities on Corpus Christi and also in honour of the Virgen del Paúl (8 September) and San Miguel Arcángel (29 September).

Langa de Duero has a seasonal TOURISM OFFICE.

Locals of Langa de Duero: langueños, although they are also known as “los alpargateros” (the espadrille-makers).
