Bodegas Lleiroso is a modest but innovative winery in Ribera del Duero, the result of Alberto Cobo’s passion for the world of wine. It is located in Valbuena de Duero, in the so-called “golden mile” of the Ribera del Duero, near the river that gives its name to this prestigious Designation of Origin.

Born in Jaén, its founder and current manager, Alberto Cobo, was a pharmacist in Valladolid when in 1999, even risking his own business, he decided to dedicate himself to what he was really passionate about: the production of great wines in an area as representative as Ribera del Duero is today.

Despite its youth, the track record of this particular winery is solid and firm, producing year after year wines that are highly valued by the sector’s connoisseurs, achieving excellent scores and awards in competitions both nationally and internationally.

Bodegas Lleiroso is the work of a famous architect, who gave its design an avant-garde style that perfectly meets the requirements and ideal conditions for the production of the best wines. In just a few years it has become one of the best known wineries in the area.

The winemaking, ageing and ageing are carried out in a traditional way, preserving the processes used by the first winegrowers in the area, so that each sip from each of its bottles takes us back to the past.

This winery has dedicated a lot of time to select, with great delicacy and in the best wine-growing areas of the region, the most suitable grapes for the elaboration of its wines. They have chosen vineyards from Valbuena and the upper area of the Ribera Burgalesa, preferring vineyards between 50 and 80 years old that have grown in privileged soils.

The grape chosen is Tempranillo, the “queen” variety of the Ribera, known in the area as Tinto Fino, blending certain wines with a small percentage of Merlot. The result is bright, brightly coloured wines, with hints of toasted wood and fresh aromas of red fruits, complex, elegant and voluminous on the palate.
