About

Olmedillo de Roa has had a very active occupation since prehistoric times: during the Bronze and Iron Ages there was a great diversity of short-lived settlements, due to the itinerant economic activities of these population groups.

This riverside town conserves a collection of noble and civil architecture with surprising inscriptions on some of its masonry and interesting 19th century buildings, such as the one located in the town square, whose façade has a set of brick and stone and two busts (one of a woman and the other of a man), above the two windows of the building.

On the other hand, it maintains its circular urban structure, inherited from its medieval past.

The village houses the Church of the Asunción de Nuestra Señora, built in the 16th century by the stonemason Juan de Navacea, as well as the Chapel of the Virgin of Basardilla on a nearby hill, Baroque although with Gothic vestiges inside. Its exterior is notable for its belfry and large pilasters.

The Sendero entre los Despoblados is ideal for walking in spring, enjoying the flowering of the almond trees that populate the orchards of Olmedillo de Roa.

Olmedillo de Roa celebrates its fiestas in honour of the Virgen de la Basardilla (8 September) and the Santísima Trinidad (Sunday after Pentecost).
