Pardilla
About
Pardilla is located south of Burgos, bordering Segovia.
This town is 902 metres above sea level and only 14 kilometres from Aranda de Duero.
Its heritage includes the parish church, part of which dates back to the 13th century, although the rest of the building is from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Another of Pardilla’s notable monuments is the jurisdictional rollo, a stone cross on an angular base, which was partially destroyed by accident. However, it was restored in the 1980s.
There are at least six Bronze Age settlements. The first document in which Pardilla is mentioned dates from 1130, when the town was still called Pardilla. Recent studies of place names suggest that it may have been founded in the early 20th century. It was in 1655 when Pardilla became a town.
Pardilla celebrates its first festivities on 2 July in honour of Saint Elizabeth. Later, on 29 August, it celebrates “The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist”.
Demonym for Pardilla: pardillanos.
