Parish Church of San Cristobal
Mélida
About
It is a building built in stone in the 13th century, with alterations in the 16th and 18th centuries. The Church of San Cristóbal de Mélida has a single nave covered with wood. The tower at the chancel, in stone, has a single body.
A very solid, Baroque-style, single-storey stone tower, located above the chancel of the parish church. There are double windows in semicircular arches on the east side and single windows on the south and north sides. The west side is made of brick and has a small opening to access the roof. Next to the tower is the spiral staircase, made of stone, which ascends to the interior of the tower. It is accessed from a small door located next to the presbytery, along with the ropes for ringing the two bells.
During 2009 and 2010 a complete restoration of the church tower was carried out, and today it has a cleaner appearance.
