Sacred Museum Church of San Juan Bautista
Aranda de Duero
About
Museum of Sacred Art in the oldest church in Aranda, San Juan Bautista, Gothic from the 14th century, with Romanesque remains from the previous building. Inside it houses carvings, sculptures, important altarpieces, monstrances, processional crosses and paintings.
The Chapel of the Calderonas stands out, with the tomb of Juan de Aranda, Prior of Roa, and its magnificent altarpiece of Hispano-Flemish design. The baptismal chapel is located in the centre of the wall of the Romanesque tower, opened by the Cantabrian master Juan de Naveda around 1570. The first baptismal book from that period is also on display.
