About

Baroque church, built on top of an earlier one in the 17th century. It is a hall-shaped church, with three naves (the largest wider than the side naves), choir with Baroque organ, Soledad chapel on the north side, main chapel with Baroque altarpiece in the chancel and Baroque sacristy on the south side. The 17th century bell tower contains 6 bells dating from 1716, 1732, 1745, 1758, 1877 and 1980.

The doorway is sheltered under an arch that ends in a curious balustrade; the tower, located at the top, is crowned with a small belfry. The large oculi on the façade and the cemetery with its trees make up an unusual scene.

The foundation stone was laid in the main chapel on 12th June 1653, and the main part of the church was completed in 1663.

Inside we can contemplate:

  • The 1753 organ built by Manuel Pascual.
  • The choir
  • Three naves
  • A large transept
  • Presbytery
  • The sacristy: with a large walnut chest of drawers.
  • Stained glass windows: a total of thirteen and four “portholes”.

The chapel of the Dolorosa with a baroque altarpiece from 1744 and the main altar from 1674 with the image of San Miguel Arcángel and on both sides San José and the Assumption are worth mentioning.
