About

Three kilometres from Aranda de Duero, this neighbourhood belonging to the town has the soul of a village, both for its people and for the number of monuments, which are well worth a visit.

In addition to the parish church of San Nicolás de Bari, declared an “Asset of Cultural Interest”, other obligatory stops are:

  • Gardens of Pompeyo Zabaco: a garden area near the church where there is a bust with a statue of the same name.
  • Ermita de San Bartolomé: located on a hill on the outskirts of the town, it dates back to 1770 and serves as a shelter throughout the year, while during the patron saint’s festivities it becomes a place of pilgrimage.
  • Fuente Vieja (Old Fountain): also known as Fuente de San Bartolomé, it dates from 1775 and is located halfway between Sinovas and the hermitage of San Bartolomé. The fountain consists of a small water spout that pours its waters into a trough. Attached to the fountain, there is also a more modern concrete basin, which replaced another stone one.

Sinovas celebrates its fiestas in honour of San Bartolomé at the end of August, whose programme includes the now prestigious homemade pacharán competition. In addition, since 2004, the Albillo Awards have been held, awarding two categories of prizes: those chosen by a professional jury and those chosen by a popular jury.

Apart from the festivities, which include the carnivals and the pilgrimages of San Marcos and San Isidro, Sinovas has been holding the Urban Race since 2009. To this must be added the plogging day (environmental activity).

Sinovas’ local name: Sinovés.
