The holm oak is the cradle of our classical Mediterranean civilisation. Under the shelter of its shade, stories and legends have been forged, its branches and acorns have fed livestock and from its wood, charcoal of the highest quality has been obtained. This famous hollow holm oak survives to this day because it was used years ago to feed livestock by pruning it for fodder, so it was forced to use its energy to develop more branches and leaves. As a consequence, it has suffered a strong decomposition of the heartwood of the trunk due to the action of fungi, which is why it has such characteristic hollows.
The preservation of these natural jewels is everyone’s responsibility. Respect your environment 🙂
