Villalba de Duero is a town in Burgos, located on a hill on the right bank of the Duero River,
Places of interest:
- Church of San Miguel Arcángel: of Renaissance style and completed in the 18th century, it is accessed, after a large stone staircase, through the Plateresque doorway presided over by a rough image of San Miguel Arcángel. It houses three Baroque altars inside.
- Ermita de la Virgen del Prado: dates from 1780 and is located to the north of the municipality, where the primitive medieval nucleus was.
- Hermitage of San Pedro.
In the riverside municipality of Villalba de Duero you can visit the “Carrascal Wetlands”, naturalised areas colonised by the fauna and flora typical of these rich ecosystems, ideal for watching water birds. They are located on the route that forms part of the Carrascal Wetlands trail, a path that can be cycled along its entire length.
Villalba de Duero celebrates its fiestas in honour of San Miguel Arcángel (May) and its Virgin, the Virgen del Prado (August). Also popular are the fiesta de los quintos (January), the fiesta del cocido (March) and the cultural summer (August).
