Canalejas de Peñafiel
About
A Romanesque-Gothic style building, the Church of the Virgen de la Asunción de Canalejas de Peñafiel dates from the 13th century, with alterations in the 16th and 18th centuries. It has two naves, separated by pillars, supporting semicircular arches and covered with groined vaults with plasterwork. There is a high choir at the foot of the church.
It is accessed through a doorway on the Gospel side, with a Romanesque arch. The tower, located at the foot of the church, is built in stone and has three sections.
Inside, the main altarpiece, a Baroque work from the 17th century, stands out.
