The walnut tree has allelopathic properties. This means that it is capable of producing phytotoxic substances to prevent other species from growing around it and thus eliminate competition. This compound is called junglone, which is present in the leaves, nuts and roots of the tree.

This walnut tree was already in the inner courtyard of the estate before the Sarmentero winery was built.

Walnut shell is used to obtain nogalina, which is used as a natural dye. It is used in various products, from hair dyes to clothing dyes, and even to give furniture a more elegant and noble appearance.

The preservation of these natural treasures is everyone’s responsibility. Respect your environment 🙂
