Theatre: La maja robada (or The Museum of Empty Paintings)

ARGUMENT

La Maja Robada tells the story of how two women were able to plunder the Prado Museum in Madrid with just a business card in the post-war years.
Clara and Esperanza, two survivors of the Civil War, transformed by themselves into the Marquesa de Arnuossa and her maid Modesta, devise a plan over the years that allows them to plunder works by Goya and El Greco in order to sell them on the international black market.
Through the story of one of the stolen paintings, the plot unravels a theatrical thriller in which the Marquise and her maid live through situations somewhere between picaresque literature and Greek tragedy.
