La Alameda river beach
San Esteban de Gormaz
About
The importance of the Duero in the Soria capital of the Ribera del Duero is enormous, and if not, just ask the great 16-span stone bridge that spans it. It is located right on the long-distance footpath (known as GR-14) in its stages 7 and 8.
Upstream from “El Sotillo” (the capricious islet that the Duero draws as it passes through this municipality), the people of San Estebe can enjoy two bathing areas before a breakwater formed by large blocks of stone and concrete that tame the “beast”:
“La Alameda” ( left bank), is a mixed beach of sand and stone protected by a dense grove of trees, with rest areas, tables and barbecues.
On the opposite bank, “La Rambla” (right bank) is a small area also for relaxation, which also has a pair of stairs to enter and exit the water, overcoming the small difference in level formed by the river and the pedestrian walkway.
A little further upstream, a jetty allows canoeists easy access to the river.
IMPORTANT:
This river beach that we present to you is declared as suitable for bathing by the census of the Junta de Castilla y León (dated 2021).
