CONOCE TODO SOBRE LA RUTA

The Way of the Cid follows the route of the first days of the Cid’s exile narrated in the Cantar, although it also includes other episodes from the poem, such as the Afrenta de Corpes, which occurred after the conquest of Valencia.

The exiled Cid leaves Vivar with sixty knights and the royal order to leave Castile in nine days, a period of time that the Cid uses to leave his daughters and wife at the monastery of San Pedro de Cardeña and to reinforce his group by enlisting new knights and soldiers.

Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, the Cid Campeador, is the key to a wider and more exciting journey through the Middle Ages that will take you to discover, on foot or by bike, the banks of the Duero River and its tributaries, with gallery forests, poplar groves, willows, ash trees and common otters.

Yes, you read that right! You will be able to see otters.

You will also be able to visit three historic-artistic sites from a different perspective, three medieval jewels such as Peñaranda de Duero, San Esteban de Gormaz and Langa de Duero. Remember, moreover, that both Peñaranda de Duero and San Esteban de Gormaz form part of the Magic Towns of Spain Network.

And enjoy the good food of El Cid. Roast suckling lamb, succulent mycological surprises, trout and cod, or sweets and pastries made with Soria butter are just some of our recommendations.
